As with their PM-series, Widmann also focuses on the outstanding advantages of the ultrasonic welding technology for their Spout inserter machines.

• A proven connection
  The innovation here is that very thin film materials and large injection moulded parts are joined together by means of the ultrasonic technology. Both materials have different requirements regarding the welding process and therefore the welding results greatly depend on the precision of welding tools and the presses themselves.
• Density in only 3 steps
  The inserting of the spouts and simultaneously closing the head seam of the pouch with a SI-machine happens in 3 steps. In step one and step two the spout is inserted and welded from each side respectively. In the final third step of the process the head seam is welded and with it the connection to the spout is created.
• Carousel-type machines or in-line design
  The configuration of the recommended machine depends solely on the customer's requirements. The carousel-type with a speed of up to 45 cycles/minute, is possible as well as the in-line-design with 75 cycles/minute, which has an output of 150 pouches/minute at two-web production. The use of applicable feeding systems for pre-converted pouches and spouts allows for autonomous machine.
• Self-contained or in combination
  The machine groups of the SI-series can be applied as stand-alone machines for the production with ready pouches as well as for integration into filling lines in front or after the filling station. Contamination by the filled product does not affect the welding results. The obtained tensile strength of most material combinations are better than those of the thermo contact welding technology.
• Application of standard spouts
  Another innovation is the possibility to use easy available standard spouts. It is not necessary to adapt the spout design for use with ultrasonic, therefore a quick and cost efficient change is possible.
